The three newly appointed Principal Secretaries in the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage assumed office today. The colorful ceremony that took place in NSSF Building saw Hon. John Ololtuaa take over State Department for Tourism from Zeinab Hussein, Madam Silvia Kihoro take over State Department for Wildlife from Dr. Susan Koech, and Ms Ummi Bashir take over State Department for Heritage from Ms Josephta Mukobe.
Witnessing the handing over ceremony, the Cabinet Secretary Hon. Peninah Malonza stressed the need for professionalism, integrity, commitment and self-reliance for parastatals under the ministry among the main values to guide them. “You must be able to generate enough finances as parastatals to sustain yourself instead of relying solely on the National Treasury to keep you afloat”.
CS Malonza noted that the Tourism industry has a multiplier effect that can spur growth and create employment opportunities for Kenyans if new technologies and innovations to market the country are adopted.
The Outgoing PSs wished their successors the very best adding that they were available for consultations whenever required.
The CS promised to support the new PSs and insisted on teamwork even as she wished them all the best in their new roles.
