The Cabinet Secretary (CS), Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage, Hon. Peninah Malonza has said that Kenyan athletes make our work easier because of their stellar in international competitions, putting Kenya on a global map, a boost to our tourism marketing.
The CS said this in a speech read on her behalf by the Principal Secretary, State Department for Wildlife, Ms Silvia Museiya, during the Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA), today evening, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.
“Sportsmen and women representing Kenya in international competitions such as marathons, athletics, and rugby are the ambassadors that the tourism sector have leveraged on to create top of
mind destination awareness,” said Malonza.
The CS also added that the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage will continue to explore more opportunities of sharing synergies with sport personalities to fully use their sporting talent to raise the country’s brand to the next level.
“As a Ministry, we will continue to encourage the association between sports and tourism to boost economic growth and to support livelihoods and communities that derive direct benefits from sports,” said Malonza.
