The PS State Department for Wildlife Sylvia Museiya has urged wildlife stakeholders and conservation partners to work closely with the government while mapping out their areas of operations to avoid duplication of roles.
The PS said consulting with the Ministry of Wildlife before starting projects will support extension of conservation benefits to regions that are neglected by donor partners yet such areas might need strategic interventions and critical support.
She added that such collaboration would eliminate duplication of roles by partners who might be running similar projects in one region.
The PS was speaking at Lumo Community Conservancy in Mwatate on Friday where she presided the handing over of motorbikes and vehicles donated to conservancies in Tsavo and Amboseli landscapes by International Fund for Animal Welfare
The project was funded by USAID and supported by local partners including Big Life, Tsavo Trust and Amboseli Eco-System Trust and Taita Taveta Wildlife Conservancies Association.
Officials who attended the event include Taita Taveta governor Andrew Mwadime, Ag KWS Director General Dr. Erastus Kanga, IFAW president and CEO Azzedine Downes amongst others.
